The project
A British multinational telecoms company wanted to give its graduates and new hires a powerful, hands-on introduction to the company, set in the context of an industry facing change on a number of fronts. The goal was to help early-career talent quickly build commercial awareness, teamwork, and critical thinking while reinforcing the organisation’s values and priorities. With an in-house training team and a well-structured programme already in place, the client was looking for a bespoke simulation to be designed that could help lift the overall programme, and provide a more practical element to the programme. The solution had to be license-free so that internal teams could use the simulation without restriction, incorporating into wider learning initiatives beyond early careers.
Our solution
We designed, built, and delivered a bespoke experiential business simulation that immersed graduates into typical challenges faced by the company. The simulation was created around the client’s unique market environment and business objectives, ensuring every scenario felt relevant and impactful. After testing and refinement, we provided a license-free handover, which included comprehensive trainers notes and Train-The-Trainer sessions so that internal trainers had all the tools to deliver the experience themselves.
The simulation included three core elements, each interlinked…
Reflecting real market dynamics and customer scenarios to build commercial awareness and problem-solving skills
Designed to simulate the physical elements involved for a large section of early careers new joiners (as well as the wider company in general)
Designed to strengthen collaboration and communication.
The impact
The simulation became a core element of the company’s graduate and early-career onboarding, and also featured on a number of other programmes in various guises. It not only helped accelerate understanding of the telecoms industry but also helped to foster confidence, collaboration, and strategic thinking among new hires. By providing a license-free solution, the organisation reduced long-term costs while delivering a consistent, high-quality development experience to every new cohort.
