The project
A leading global wealth manager, serving some of the highest net worth individuals worldwide, hosts a yearly week-long programme for the next generation of their most valuable clients. Partnering with world-renowned universities and professors, the programme introduces participants to investment assets and strategies. The client wanted a flagship activity: a highly interactive, half-day digital investment game to consolidate the learning from the week. It needed to be educational, competitive, and memorable.
Our solution
We designed a live market simulation, where participants worked in teams as family offices competing to grow and preserve wealth across simulated market cycles.
The simulation included…
Equities, bonds, alternatives, private equity, real estate, crypto, and more
Market shocks, central bank policy shifts, geopolitical events, and technological breakthroughs
Growth vs. defensive strategies, leverage, hedging, and ESG positioning
Participants experienced herd instincts, overconfidence, and risk aversion first-hand.
The impact
The client described the session as the “highlight of the week”, delivering exactly what was needed: a bridge between academic insight and lived experience. In particular, key outcomes from the simulation included:
- The opportunity for participants to apply the theory from the week in a fast-paced, practical environment
- Exposure to the importance of decision-making under uncertainty and the behavioural biases that shape outcomes
- Reinforcement of the core learning objectives from the wider programme in competitive and fun format that created energy, rivalry, and lasting memories.
