How our Information Exchange activity works…
Each team is given a brief from a customer outlining Project Information Exchange. Teams start to plan and scope the various tasks required to successfully deliver a solution to customer specification and pitch their plans to the customer.
Once agreement is reached with the customer, teams move to co-ordinate and construct phase one of the project. The customer also has additional information which could earn teams more income, but they must communicate with the customer effectively to gather such information, and not focus entirely on the task. Teams at this stage think they are in direct competition with each other and tend to keep design ideas and solutions to themselves.
As the challenge unfolds, the customer’s needs evolve, requiring an integrated solution from all teams. Teams now need to work together to fulfil the project and to be successful, they need to transition from a competitive position to a collaborative one. Each team will need to revisit their plans, and share, understand and agree a revised co-ordinated plan, communicated across all teams in order to satisfy the customer’s requirements.
The simulation finishes with teams delivering their solution to the customer – a high-energy and fun close. The facilitators lead a review session based around effective communication and its importance in the workplace.
A great solution for organisations seeking to…
1) Break down silos and encourage cross-team and/or cross-functional collaboration
2) Develop leadership and project management skills
3) Create a memorable and meaningful team experience
4) Reinforce company values through experiential learning.
